We’re Way Out in the Countryside

Hico was first settled in the 1800’s and has been through many ups and downs. The struggle to survive runs deep in the citizens of Hico.

From the early settlers and their battle to survive the raiding Indians and Comancheros, to those running from the law. From floods, boll weevils, depression and wars. Our small rural town stands up to tragedies and to threats.

We have A1 restaurants, boutiques to light up any woman’s heart, antiques, and more. We have the best chocolates made by one of the last of the Chocolatiers. And when the silos are no longer needed for storing grain we make climbing them a challenge you will want to try.

Need a place to stay? We have the 100-year old Midland Hotel that has been refurbished and is beautiful, several Bed & Breakfasts, the Hico Inn motel, RV Parks both private and in Hico City Park, plus merchants of all types.

And by no means will we forget to remind you of the Billy the Kid Museum. We not only have the true life story of the most famous gunman in the old west but there is a gift shop you will want to browse.

So come on down or up from whichever way you’re traveling, and hang your hat for awhile. You’ll come away entertained, enlightened, and relaxed!
